Mayor Peggy Murphy
Mrs. Peggy Murphy has lived in Alma most of her life and has a love for this community beyond measure. She served on Alma's City Council for 22 years. In January of 2012, she began her first year serving as Mayor, making her the first female ever elected as Mayor.
Mrs. Peggy has worked for the Alma Bacon County Chamber of Commerce, as a Caseworker for First Congressional District Representative Jack Kingston, and as a Marketing Representatvie for the Georgia Department of Labor.
Mrs. Peggy is a member of Alma United Methodist Church where she sings in the choir and serves as the Staff of Parish Relations Chair. She also serves as the Georgia Municipal Association District 11 President.
Mrs. Murphy has two children, Kenny (wife Jamie) and Angie Bishop (husband Bryant Bishop) as well as one awesome granddaughter, Anna Bishop, who she loves to spend time with at the pool and shopping.
