Solid Waste Division
The City of Alma contracts with Southland Waste Systems for the pickup and hauling our household garbage in the city. Any resident who signs up for utility services will be given a curbside collection cart. Southland Waste picks up household garbage every Tuesday. The first cart fee is $16.00 per month and any additonal cart is $13.00 per month. If your curbside collection cart has been damaged or does not get emptied, please contact our water department at 912-632-5917.
Limb and Leaf Pickup
The City of Alma picks up limbs and leaves each week for our city's residents. Limbs and leaves must be piled up by each resident's curb in order for the limb truck to pick them up. The pile cannot have any trash in it or the pile will not be picked up. Limbs are required to be cut in sections three feet in length or shorter. Any resident who signs up for utility services will have their limbs and leaves picked up. Below you will find a map detailing which day of the week each section of the city is picked up.

Construction and Demolition Waste
The City of Alma does not collect Construction and Demolition Waste. A resident may call Southland Waste Systems at (912)-284-1222 or Barber's Recycling at (912)-632-5001 to request a roll off bin. All collection and billing is processed between the resident and roll off bin provider.
The City of Alma owns and operates two landfills. The City's inert landfill is open and is used to disposed limbs and leaves. The City also has a Municipal Solid Waste landfill that is closed.
